WOOD ARRIVES FROM AIRCRAFT SPRUCE AND SPECIALITY
April 6, 2017: I received the wood for the wings and empennage from Aircraft Spruce and Specialty Company. It all arrived in good condition with the exception of the end of one of the spars which was damaged a little in shipment. It will be o.k. The spars are longer than needed and I will cut the bad portion off. The spars are hanging from the rafters. The box of wood is the spruce for the wing ribs and tail feathers.
FIRST SET OF RIBS GLUED UP
August 20, 2017: Finally, after a couple of months of planing and fabrication of the two rib jig boards, I glued up a left hand and a right hand side of two ribs. It went well. The T88 epoxy seemed to last only about 30 minutes before it became to stiff to use. Had to mix up another batch after the first rib was glued. The metal clamps work like a charm.
